Musical Birds - JCSP PCA 2013 |
There were hundreds of books on display often accompanied by amazing art and
craft work. Some of the schools involved whole class groups in writing one big
book, while in other schools everyone wrote their own individual books. There
were huge, three-dimensional books, dainty little books, and collections of
beautifully crafted and decorated texts that had been painstakingly put
together. The books give us a great insight to the fascinating world of the
Irish teenager.
Five PCA art students participating in the JCSP
programme, completed a beautiful wire sculpture book, entitled Musical Birds.
The paper machie birds contain the personal writings of the five students who
created this book. Through the birds the students express their love for music.
The project was created and cross linked through several departments: English,
I.T. Music and Art. Ms Kelly travelled
with the students to Dublin and had a fantastic day visiting the exhibition. The
project was also selected to be on display in the Cork exhibition.
Musical Birds is now on display in the art room and students experimented with photography and digital media, by photographing the book to the backdrop of different landscapes and skies.
Congratulations to JCSP students Michelle Helebert, Shauna Marchant, Linnis McInerney, Karl Flaherty and Cathal Quill on completing a fantastic project.
