Students began by drawing their image and then created stencils of its silhouette in various sizes.
Students explored
- Line using markers,
- Tone using paint in warm colours,
- Colour using oil pastels in cool colours
- Shape and Pattern used coloured card.
The next stage was to introduce students to graphic design and lettering. Good lettering is a basic part of graphic design. Letters say a lot about a word. The size, style, weight, colour and position are all very important when trying to create a certain image. Using the name of their object students created four new design boxes exploring
- Calligraphy
- Expressive Text
- Collage
- The fourth design box was open to create 'Own Style' of lettering
The third stage of the project was to create a small 3D piece of their chosen object or animal using model magic. Students painted their 3D pieces and then worked in groups to create a short stop motion animation piece. Here are some of their creative finished films!
